2005 Editorial - Gas Prices Set New High Again - Isn't it Time To SERIOUSLY Move To a Hydrogen Fueled Society?

Snide's Remarks : What is going on? Today the price of regular gas in Louisville, which just two weeks ago was $2.18 per gallon, jumped to $2.68 per gallon...just what is going on?

This unprecedented bump in price reinforces my belief that a certain constituency profits (greatly) from the status quo. I am not a conspiracy theorist but logic tells me that it is in the oil company's best interest to continue to prevent the replacement of gasoline by Hydrogen as the primary fuel for our internal combustion engines.

Hydrogen power should be our nation’s next collective venture, not only will it save us money and save the atmosphere it is I believe the real key to our freedom from the the tribute paid for the product of totalitarian, terror breeding countries in the Middle-East and their front-men big oil companies...oh yeah those same "folks" who are now making record profits while our country's men and woman in uniform and their families suffer through the agony they are enduring...what is going on?

I don't get it, and I don’t get why real Americans aren't getting angry really angry with the status quo?

On August 15, 1975 a newspaper article here in Louisville featured a story about a gas guzzling car with a 450 Cubic Inch Engine that was converted from burning gasoline to burning hydrogen, even using old technology it worked and reduced the dependence on oil to zero, ZERO...and this happened exactly 30 years ago to the day...thirty years ago and NOTHING has changed.

Unbelievably we are still talking about a "solution to the oil crisis”. What gives? Is it time for our government to freeze the cost of a gallon of gas...since there are no shortages only rising prices.

Isn’t it time for the government to break the yoke of the oil companies and oil producing countries and DEMAND that car companies MUST convert to Hydrogen and that every gas station MUST offer Hydrogen as a choice 5 years from now...this will surely solve our oil problem and our air problem and our young people dying problem and the terrorist problem...not bad for a product that is as available as the "waters that fill the sea".

We have been blessed with an abundence of "manna" and the technology and wisdom to meet these challanges.

Washington DC August 15, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that the price of retail gas has gone up more than 20 cents in the last three weeks ending last Friday, up to a new high of $2.53 per gallon.

Adjusted for inflation, however, prices have yet to climb to the record levels reached in the 1980s.

Trilby Lunberg, publisher of the Lunberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations nationwide, said demand for gas will stay high for the rest of the month but should drop after the Labor Day weekend.

Among the stations included in the survey, the highest price for unleaded regular was in San Diego, Calif., with a price tag of $2.76 per gallon. The best deal was found in Cheyenne, Wyo., at $2.31 a gallon.
