Practice Notes/Quotes - Tuesday, May 18, 1999
The 83rd Indianapolis 500

Robby Gordon continued practice for this year's 83rd running of the Indianapolis 500 in his #23 Johns Manville/Menards/Duracell G-Force/Aurora/Firestone entry on a rain-shortened day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He got the backup #23T car up to 217.902 mph in limited running at the outset of practice, that began some two and one-half hours late. After another brief rain delay, the team focused its efforts on the primary #2 car but was plagued with an array of electrical gremlins. Practice resumes Wednesday for the May 30th Indy 500, with Pole Day qualifying set for Saturday.

QUOTE

ROBBY GORDON - "We just haven't been able to get as much time on the track as we had hoped to so far. Electrical gremlins set us back as we tried to get up to speed in our primary car. We've got to get over these little problems that are starting to set us back a lot. If that's not enough, the rain just keeps setting us back some more. We have a lot of work to do, yet. The good thing is, it's only Tuesday. The key will be to be in peak form on Saturday (Pole Day). What we can really use is a full day with no rain. Then again, this is Indy!"
