Growing Interest Attributed to Unprecedented Results From Scottsdale, Ariz. Event Last January, Coupled With Continued Growth From West Palm Beach, Fla. Event in March

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 13 -- With four months to go until the 34th Annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, held in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Barrett-Jackson Company today announced that the early car consignments for the January 25th - 30th, 2005 event are up a stunning 400% over last year's early registrants.

As of last week, a total of more than 500 cars have met Barrett-Jackson's stringent criteria, and have been officially accepted for the auction from the many cars that are offered for consideration. A total of more than 1000 cars will be accepted for the 2005 event.

Of the cars currently consigned, all are currently entered at "No Reserve." Selling a car at "No Reserve" refers to the concept that a car will be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of the bid offered. This can generate exciting moments during the auction, resulting in higher than expected prices. There is still room for more top-quality vehicles at the Scottsdale auction. Additionally, collector cars that don't happen to make it into the Scottsdale event can easily be transitioned to the West Palm Beach auction running from April 1-3, 2005.

Jackson continued, "These early consignments indicate that not only do the consigners have more time to draw interest to the car or cars that they are selling, but the bidder also has more time to research and evaluate the car of his or her dreams, prior to the event in January. One of the exquisite cars already consigned for the Scottsdale auction is a 1966 Shelby GT350 Fastback, 289cid/306hp V8 with a 4-speed transmission that has been referred to as the finest 1966 Shelby GT350 in existence. In addition, there is a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda Hemi two-door coupe that is documented as the second Hemi 'Cuda ever built. It was utilized by the Plymouth Corporation on the press preview tour when the company first rolled out the vehicles. This year also includes a collection of world-class street rods and hot rods, unlike any ever assembled.

Headlining concept cars this year is a 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 GM Concept Car. Equipped with a 324cid/250hp 'Rocket' V8 with an automatic transmission, this is documented as a General Motors 'Dream Car' survivor, a one of a kind concept car featured at the Motorama's in 1954. Another featured consigned car is the 1953 Allard J2X Lemans Factory Lightweight. Equipped with a 331cid Hemi V8 with 2x4 carbs and a 4-speed transmission, this is the only factory 'lightweight' J2X produced with LeMans body. It is professionally restored to exacting specifications with documentation, since the car was ordered from the factory.

Highlighting one of the finest selections of 'No Reserve' Chevrolet Corvettes ever assembled is a 1958 Corvette, a one-off retractable Corvette created by former General Motor's legendary designer Francis Scott. Nicknamed 'the Scotty,' after its designer, the distinctive Corvette features a retractable hardtop; a roof that simply rolls down rails into the trunk area and disappears whenever open-air touring. This 'home-built' prototype, GM patent # 3,180,677, considered one of the most unique Corvettes in existence, was the only one produced.

Compounding the excitement surrounding the auction is the fact that advanced registered bidder applications are also ahead of last year. To date, the number of pre-registered bidders qualified for the 2005 auction is up 25 percent over this time last year, with new registered bidders accounting for 30% of the total number.
