Toyota Corolla

Corolla has been built for more than four decades and hit a milestone in 2005 with the production of its 30-millionth unit.

The Corolla line added the exciting high-performance XRS model last year. The XRS is powered by a specially tuned version of the company’s 2ZZ double overhead cam (DOHC) 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that’s also used in the Corolla Matrix XRS crossover utility model. The engine produces 164 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 125 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. The variable valve timing and lift (VVTL-i) system gives the engine a supercharger-like rise in power from 6,000 to 7,800 rpm.

Corolla’s standard powertrain provides the owner with the dual benefits of sporty performance and excellent fuel economy. The dual overhead cam 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine produces 126 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 122 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,200 rpm.
