Reuters Reports: GM RECALLING 778,000 CARS

Reuters reported today that GM is Recalling 778,000 Cars including Pontiac Grand Am, Buick Skylark and Oldsmobile Achieva after reports of three injuries from electrical fires. "The fires could occur in the steering system of the recalled cars when the driver holds the key in the start position for an extended period, resulting in high current flows and heat in the ignition switch". All of the recalled vehicles were built between May 1993 and June 1995.

The Fix:GM dealers need to install a relay kit to prevent the problem.
