Nissan Launches 'Snug Kids'; The First-Ever Child Safety Seat Fit Guide in the Automotive Industry

GARDENA, Calif., Jan. 3 -- Today, Nissan announced the launch of its new safety initiative, Snug Kids -- the Nissan Child Safety Seat Fit Guide. The first ever in the automotive industry, Snug Kids, was created for Nissan customers who need to install child safety seats in their vehicles.

Snug Kids -- the Nissan Child Safety Seat Fit Guide -- provides parents with specific information to assist them in finding the right child seat for their 2000-2002 Nissan or Infiniti vehicle. It was developed to help improve child safety by making sure the right seat is chosen and providing tips on the correct installation.

``The Snug Kids Guide is an invaluable aid for parents, grandparents, or guardians in their search for the right child seat for their vehicle the first time,'' said Emil Hassan, Nissan's senior vice president of North American manufacturing, purchasing, quality and logistics. ``As a grandparent, I know all too well the frustration of trying to find the right child seat for my grandson that fits snugly in my vehicle. With this guide, I immediately know which seat I can use, no matter which Nissan or Infiniti product I am driving.''

For ease of use, the Snug Kids Guide is divided into three parts and accessed via the Internet. The first section, General Installation Tips, gives helpful tips regarding the proper installation of the child seat. The next section lists every 2000-2002 Nissan and Infiniti model with compatible infant, child and/or booster seats. The last section is a Directory of Selected Child Seat Manufacturers, which includes contact information and links to the manufacturer's websites.

The Snug Kids Guide is the latest child safety program developed by Nissan under its corporate safety initiative. Another successful child safety program has been Nissan's Quest For Safety, a community based program aimed at educating adults about the importance of the correct installation and use of car seats in automobiles.
