Honda Vehicles Earn Top Rankings in 2002 ACEEE Green Book
Torrance, Calif. — For the third consecutive year, the Honda Insight has been recognized by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) as the "Greenest Vehicle" in its annual ACEEE's Green Book: The Environmental Guide to Cars and Trucks - Model Year 2002. ACEEE evaluates vehicles on the basis of fuel economy, emissions and overall environmental impact. The natural gas powered Civic GX tied for the second best score on the Greenest Vehicles of 2002 evaluation, while the Civic HX coupe placed among the top five - and was the best scoring non-hybrid, gasoline-powered vehicle on the list. Saturn SL (gasoline) Topping the "Greener Choices" list (a special evaluation prepared by ACEEE that is limited to gasoline-powered vehicles with an automatic transmission), the Honda Insight again scored first and the Honda Civic HX coupe ranked third among all of the vehicles evaluated. Suzuki Esteem Wagon The Honda Insight equipped with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) achieves 57/56 city/hwy mpg and meets Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) standards, as well as Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standards in California and some Northeastern states. The manual transmission version of the Insight achieves 61/68 mpg and meets ULEV standards. The Civic HX coupe features lean-burn engine tuning for enhanced fuel economy and achieves 35/40 city/hwy mpg with a CVT and 36/44 city/hwy mpg with a manual transmission while meeting national ULEV standards.
