Saab Cars USA Helps the Carter Center Raise Nearly One Million Dollars at Annual Benefit Weekend in Crested Butte

NORCROSS, Ga., Feb. 26 -- Saab Cars USA, Inc. joined President and Mrs. Carter in hosting their 10th annual winter ski weekend in Crested Butte, Colorado, February 6-10, to benefit the Carter Center. Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, founded the non-profit organization 20 years ago. The foundation supports programs that advance peace and health worldwide and have improved the lives of people in more than 65 countries.

The highlight of the weekend was an auction featuring a variety of corporate donations, personal and historical items. A maple four-poster bed crafted by President Carter brought the highest auction price of $250,000. Other donated auction items included a 2002 Saab automobile, which sold for $45,000. The buyers can select the Saab model of their choice.

``Rosalynn and I are grateful and pleased that so many people care about the work of The Carter Center. Their contributions give hope to suffering people worldwide,'' said President Carter.

Among the 300 guests at the event were baseball legend Hank Aaron along with members of the FutureForce, a leadership program for at-risk Atlanta area youth.

``2002 marked the seventh year of Saab's support of The Carter Center and its global programs,'' said Dan Chasins, President and COO of Saab Cars USA. ``We are proud to support an organization with such dedication to the advancement of human rights on all fronts -- health, education, community development, and the cultivation of hope for those in need.''
