Mitsubishi Motors Reports June Sales Up 12.6%

CYPRESS, Calif., July 2 -- Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) today reported June sales of 22,388 units, moving Mitsubishi's year-to-date sales up to 173,590 units, 12.6 percent ahead of last year.

"We remain very positive about the outlook for 2002," said MMSA President and COO Pierre Gagnon. "We expect to continue on a record pace with the arrival of the new Outlander and restyled Montero this fall."

Mitsubishi's June sales were supported by strong sales of Eclipse Spyder, delivering 1,416 units and marking an 11.4 percent gain over June 2001.

     Some figures of note for MMSA's June 2002 sales:

     --  June 2002 sales of 22,388 vehicles, down 1.9 percent compared to last
         year's June sales of 23,698 vehicles, based on the daily selling rate
         (DSR)

     --  June 2002 year-to-date sales of 173,590 vehicles; 12.6 percent ahead
         of June 2001 year-to-date sales of 155,230 vehicles, based on DSR

     --  Eclipse Spyder had its second-best June with 1,416 units sold,
         up 11.4 percent over sales during June 2001, based on DSR
