Mitsubishi Motors recalls 674 cars for defective fuel tanks

July 11 TOKYO — Kyodo News reported that Mitsubishi Motors Corp said Thursday it is recalling a combined 674 units of Galant, Aspire, Legnum and Diamante passenger cars produced from Nov 12, 2001 to May 24, 2002 due to defective fuel tanks.

In a report to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, Mitsubishi Motors said there is a possibility of a fuel leakage when the fuel tank is full as the seal packing installed near the fuel pump gage unit has an inappropriate configuration.
