AAA Texas: Pump Prices Relatively Stable Statewide

    HOUSTON--July 12, 2002--Motorists throughout Texas experienced mostly small changes up and down in the average price of gasoline during the past week, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
    Motorists in San Antonio are paying an average of $1.25 a gallon, that's one-tenth of a cent higher than last week's price, two cents lower than last month and two cents lower than the price last year. Corpus Christi is at $1.26 a gallon, which is 2.5 cents below last week, one cent lower than below last month's price and nine cents above the price last year. The Austin-San Marcos area reports an average price of $1.27, one-tenth of a cent under last week's price, two cents down from last month and five cents under last year's price. In Houston, the price is $1.32, that's six-tenths of a cent higher than last week, two cents below last month ten cents under last year's price. Fort Worth has an average price of $1.33 a gallon, which is higher than last week by two-tenths of a cent, three cents below last month and nine cents lower than last year. Dallas tops the list at $1.34 a gallon, and that's six-tenths of a cent above last week's price, two cents down from last month and eleven cents below last year's price.
    "We've seen small price changes for the most part during the past several weeks," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "There don't appear to be any supply or demand factors that would change prices dramatically from their current levels."
