The Chrome Top 10 rankings are compiled from vehicle configurations captured through Chrome's Web-based configuration and pricing tool, Chrome Carbook(TM), accessible from more than 1,000 Web sites. Vehicle preferences captured by Chrome show which vehicle configurations consumers are considering, including the vehicle's make, model, transmission, option and color preferences.
This real-time consumer demand information enables auto manufacturers to improve visibility throughout their marketing, production and planning departments. By seeing which vehicles consumers are considering, and where those consumers are located, auto makers can better target customers and plan production accordingly. Ultimately, it's a win-win for both manufacturers and consumers.
Publishers Note: A history lesson. The Auto Channel was the first web site to utilize Chrome's Data and put it a simple web interface on the web for all to use for free. Until we suceeded in twisting their arm, to let us buy the data because the web was the future, Chrome's business model was selling the data which they collected from the manufacturers, to dealers and credit unions for $99 per month.
They copied our presentation format and many of our content offerings including this "most popular" report which we began to issue in 1997...and not even a thank you from them.
