General Motors And Todey Chevrolet Donate $10,000 To Oxnard High School Band

Donation is Single Largest Contribution to School Band Program

Oxnard, Calif. - General Motors and Todey Chevrolet of Oxnard, Calif. recently donated $10,000 to the Oxnard High School Band, the single largest contribution ever made to the band program. The gift, a joint effort between GM's Western Region and Todey, was presented to performing arts director Fundi Legohn and band members, who performed during a special ceremony at the dealership. The money will be used to help pay for instrument repair, uniform replacement and bus transportation.

"This is an enormous contribution to our program," said Legohn. "Like most school music departments, we rely on fundraisers for support. We're absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous gift from General Motors and Todey Chevrolet. Their donation will go a long way in supporting our students and the Oxnard band program."

Approximately 150 students make up the school's marching, intermediate and concert bands. Each school year, the band participates in a series of local competitions and has performed in Mexico, Hawaii and the Bahamas. In January, the band will perform at the State Capital in Sacramento.
