Nissan Sales Marching Along
TOKYO, April 15, 2003; Reuters reported that Nissan Motor Co Ltd (Tokyo:7201.T - News), Japan's third-largest car maker, said on Tuesday domestic sales of its mainstay "March" subcompact hit a record 158,000 units in the just-ended business year.
The strong sales of the March, along with its Teana luxury sedan and Altima sedan, are expected to help Nissan register a record profit for a second consecutive year.
Nissan's Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn said last month the company would at least meet its profit targets for the 2002/03 business year ended on March 31 and was well placed to ride out any slide in demand in the year ahead.
Nissan last November forecast a group net profit of 490 billion yen ($4 billion) for the year, a record high.
