Satellite Radio Has Captured Men's Interest, Study Reports

New SIRIUS Portable Satellite Radios Available This Spring

NEW YORK, May 20 -- According to a recent Arbitron study, satellite radio is on men's minds, making SIRIUS with its 100 streams of music, news, sports and entertainment an ideal Father's Day gift. And with the anticipated in-store arrival date of early June, shoppers can even pick up the new "Plug & Play," a portable satellite radio system.

"Men can be fanatical about music and sports, and SIRIUS delivers both with 60 genre-specific music streams, from rock to jazz, country to classical, plus extensive sports coverage from live NBA broadcasts to ESPN Radio and The Speed Channel," said Larry Rebich, Vice President of Programming & Market Development for SIRIUS. "And with the new Plug & Plays, dads will love portable satellite radio, because they can take it wherever they go, from their car to their office or home and even out to their boat."

The study, conducted by Arbitron and Edison Media Research in January, states that approximately 17 million Americans say they are "very interested" in the concept of satellite radio. One of the groups identified specifically as showing the most interest comprised men ages 12 to 44.

The new Plug & Play portable products for SIRIUS, offered initially by Kenwood and Audiovox, will let listeners enjoy their favorite SIRIUS music, news, sports and entertainment streams wherever they go -- in the car, the home, the office, and even on a boat. Plug & Plays can be simply moved from location to location using small palm-sized cradles. Key features include a dot matrix multi-line display that shows artist name, song title, stream name and category name; 24 - 30 presets with preset search; and a category and stream search using the on-screen menus.

SIRIUS' Plug & Plays will be sold at most major consumer electronics retailers like Best Buy and Circuit City as well as local car audio dealers. Subscription to SIRIUS' service (only $12.95 a month) comes with greater savings for upfront payments of a year or more, and, to the relief of last minute Father's Day shoppers, can be activated immediately following installation.
