New Non-Tech Device Motivates Motorists to Buckle Up

BuckleBabies(TM) Encourages Buckling-Up for Safety and Enjoyable Driving; Drivers Will Be Hugged Everywhere They Drive

NOVI, Mich., Aug. 26 -- Micsia Inventions, Inc., a start-up firm specializing in small and non-tech lifestyle inventions, announced today that their core product, BuckleBabies, is available for consumers.

BuckleBabies is a simple leather add-on attachment used to motivate and encourage motorists to wear seatbelts. It wraps around the seatbelt with provisions to add baby pictures, short reminders and emergency contact/medical information all in one. It attaches to seatbelts in seconds and gently hugs the drivers with their loved one's pictures.

Ravindra Papineni, inventor and founder of Micsia Inventions, Inc., makers of BuckleBabies, believes in simplified living. "Increasingly our lives are becoming more and more complex and technologically driven. While we all love high-tech gadgets, we certainly don't need a video camera and a monitor when all we want is to see how good we look. A simple mirror will do," says the inventor.

Based on this theory BuckleBabies was developed to remind drivers and passengers to use their seatbelts in order to make it home safely to their family. This product can contribute to the prevention of deaths and serious injuries that result from people not wearing their seatbelts. The NHTSA's annual study of highway fatalities counted 42,850 in 2002, up from 42,116 in 2001, an increase of 1.7 percent(*). Almost half of the fatalities were related to alcohol use and some 59 percent of the fatalities were due to not wearing seatbelts, the agency reported.

"It is amazing how many individuals still don't buckle up. If our product helps even a small percentage of these people, we achieved our goal," says the founder cheerfully.

"BuckleBabies is fun to attach to the seatbelt for various reasons," says Ravindra. "Wearing a seatbelt is mundane for many people but BuckleBabies put some `zing' into it, making it an enjoyable ride. By buckling up with BuckleBabies drivers will be hugged by their loved ones everywhere they drive." BuckleBabies retails for $9.95 from website. Shipping and handling is $2.95.
