Britax is the First Child Car Seat Manufacturer to Receive Top Marks in New Euro-Ncap Rating System Launched Today

CLICK4 NCAP Crash Test Results

Warwick, November 27 -- Britax is delighted to announce that at a news conference today in Athens, Greece, Euro-NCAP awarded the Ford Focus C-Max it's first ever 4 star child protection rating using Britax Child Car Seats. This is the first time Euro-NCAP have given official ratings for child protection and both the Britax Romer Duo Plus ISOfix and the Britax Romer Baby-Safe (marketed in the UK as the Cosy Tot) infant carrier received a four star rating when tested in the Ford Focus C-Max.

This favourable result was achieved after two separate tests - a front impact test and a side impact test - using two crash test dummies. The first dummy simulated a forward facing 3 year old child in a Britax Romer Duo Plus ISOfix child seat. The second dummy represented a 1 1/2 year old child in a rear facing Britax Romer Baby-Safe secured using the adult belt. The rating is calculated from the injury values recorded in the tests plus additional points that are awarded for the ease of installation and the warnings provided to prevent serious injury.

The overall 4 star safety rating for child protection is an excellent result as this is the most demanding test criteria currently available in Europe and is based on the combined assessment of the child seat as well as the vehicle. This result was achieved due to the continuous working partnership between Ford and Britax.

The Britax Duo Plus ISOfix is suitable for children weighing 9kgs to 18kgs (approximately 9 months to 4 years) and retails at GBP180. The Britax Cosy Tot is suitable for children from birth to 13kgs (birth to approximately 9-12 months) and retails at approximately GBP79.99. Both seats are available from most major retailers and independent nursery stores.
