North American International Auto Show to Host Live Two-Hour NBC Sports Broadcast on Sun., Jan. 23, 2005

Partnership Brings NAIAS and its Exhibitors to Global Audience with One of Television's Most Successful Broadcast Teams

DETROIT, July 29 -- The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and NBC Sports announced today their partnership to host a live, two-hour special featuring the world's top automakers and their exciting products from Cobo Center in Detroit on Jan. 23, 2005. The first-time event will mark the closing day of the NAIAS, and will feature NBC's NASCAR broadcast team, Allen Bestwick, Wally Dallenbach and Bennie Parsons.

This collaboration is the latest in recent media partnerships for the NAIAS 2005. On June 2, the NAIAS named WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit, as the official local broadcast partner for the 2005 through 2007 shows, reaching more than 3.5 million adult viewers in metro Detroit and Ontario.

"NBC consistently produces a variety of unique and appealing sports- oriented events for its demographically diverse audience," said Bill Cook, senior co-chairman for the NAIAS 2005. "We expect the NAIAS will serve as a beacon for the network and will showcase our exhibitors on a global level."

Richard Genthe, co-chairman for the NAIAS 2005 added, "We also expect the synergy between WDIV-TV and NBC to provide some exciting opportunities for the NAIAS. We hope that by working together network and affiliate alike will benefit logistically as well as creatively."

The NAIAS also renewed its contract in late June with MSN Autos (http://autos.msn.com/ ) through 2006, continuing its role as the exclusive online consumer Web site of the NAIAS, reaching more than nine million unique visitors.

"Televising the NAIAS live from Detroit gives us a unique opportunity to provide unprecedented exposure to this great event," said NBC senior vice president of Sports Programming, Jon Miller. "This program offers viewers the first glimpse of some of the hottest models, newest technologies, production and concept cars for 2005. With the help of our NASCAR team of announcers, the program will be entertaining while conveying a passion for cars."

NBC Sports, host of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, has solidified its status as a premier sports network with a broad range of successful programming. NASCAR has particularly benefited from its relationship with NBC, with viewership increasing by 40-percent since the network became a chief broadcaster of the sport in 2001. NBC's last two broadcasts of the Daytona 500, the sport's paramount event, have been the most viewed and highest-rated in history. NBC Sports has also emerged as an industry leader with its coverage of unique and niche sporting events, such as championship poker and the Arena Football League.
