Toyota Thailand Reveals New SUV - Fortuner
Toyota Motor Thailand introduced its new Hilux Vigo based SUV. Called the Fortuner it is the final member of the IMV family.
The Innovative International Multi-Purpose Project spawned the Indonesian-built Kijang Innova and the Thai-built Hilux Vigo so far.
The Fortuner comes either with a 2.7-liter petrol (118 bhp @5200 rpm, 241 Nm @ 3800 rpm) or a 3-liter D4D turbo-diesel engine (120 bhp @ 3400 rpm, 343 @ 1400 rpm). There are four- or five-speed automatic gearboxes available.
Although the car is based on a pick-up its styling is pure SUV with hints at the Lexus RX300. It is a 7-seater just as its recently introduced local competitor, the Isuzu MU7.
The car is being introduced at the forthcoming Bangkok Motor Show before going on sale nationwide.
