Hyundai Sets New Record for December 2004 Sales and Sets a New Annual Sales Record

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 4, 2005 -- Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 37,148 units for the month of December, establishing a new December sales record as well as a new all-time annual sales record of 418,615 vehicles. These results represent a seven percent sales increase over December 2003 and a five percent improvement over 2003's record sales.

Many of the vehicles in Hyundai's lineup established new monthly and annual sales records. Sonata posted a record for December with sales of 8,178 units and set a new annual sales record of 107,189. Santa Fe also set a new annual record of 111,447 units and both Santa Fe and Tiburon posted their best December sales. In fact, three vehicles in the Hyundai lineup -- the Elantra, Sonata and the Santa Fe -- posted annual sales above 100,000 units.

"This is the fourth straight year of record sales for Hyundai in the U.S. and it was driven by quality improvements, owner loyalty -- which is one of the best in the auto industry -- and by our highly focused and dedicated dealers," said Hyundai Motor America President and CEO Robert F. (Bob) Cosmai. "We are poised for a very strong year in 2005," he said.
