NASCAR Series Drivers to Speak at 20th Annual Black Heritage Celebration

ATWATER, Calif.--Feb. 1, 20058, 2005--Riverside Motorsports Park, LLC announces that it is sponsoring two speakers from the motorsports industry's nationally acclaimed Drive for Diversity (D4D) program at the 20th Annual Black Heritage Celebration hosted by Merced College, Merced, Calif., on February 27, 2005. Drive for Diversity is an initiative endorsed by NASCAR and managed by Access Marketing & Communications of Charlotte, N.C., to create a pipeline of talented diverse and female drivers and pit crew members for the racing industry. At the Black Heritage Celebration event, Mr. Morty Buckles and Ms. Allison Duncan will speak about their personal experiences as D4D drivers in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series (NDWS).

Morty Buckles, a resident of Stone Mountain, Ga., began racing in World Karting, which led to his racing NASCAR stock cars. During the 2004 inaugural season for Drive for Diversity, he drove the Number 54 National Guard Ford for Belnavis Racing. Splitting the season between Southampton Motor Speedway in Capron, Va., and Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., Morty posted five top-five and 15 top-ten finishes in 19 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car events.

Allison Duncan, of San Rafael, Calif., has a successful history of sports car and endurance racing, including being the highest-finishing female in the history of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, a feat she accomplished in 2000. During 2004 with Drive for Diversity, she drove the Number 94 Miller Lite/Sunoco Chevrolet for BH Motorsports at Hickory Motor Speedway. Allison finished the 2004 campaign with six top-five and 16 top-ten finishes in 18 races. During 2005, she will drive the Number 20 Bill McAnally Racing/Richard Childress Racing Development Program (BMR/RCR) Chevrolet Monte Carlo in NDWS events at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, California.

The Black Heritage Celebration, sponsored by the Merced College Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and University of California, Merced, will take place Sunday, February 27, at the Merced College Theater starting at 2:00 p.m. The celebration is free of charge and the public is invited to attend.
