Canada and Car Makers Reach Emission Deal

OTTAWA, March 23, 2005; Reuters reported that Canada has reached a voluntary pact with major automobile makers to cut emissions of greenhouse gases, Natural Resources Minister John Efford told Parliament on Wednesday. Ottawa wants car makers to reduce emissions by 25 percent from 1995 levels by 2010. Efford did not say when the deal would be formally signed.
