Iteris Lane Departure Warning System Hits the Road

ANAHEIM, Calif.--May 3, 2005--Iteris Inc. (AMEX:ITI), a leader in the development of vision-based technology that enhances driver safety, today announced that its Lane Departure Warning (LDW) technology is now available on the all-new 2006 Infiniti M35 & M45 at 172 dealerships nationwide.

Since the 2006 M went on sale in February, Infiniti reported that it already doubled the first month's sales goal and outperformed sales expectations with an 1,100 percent increase over March 2004. Iteris' LDW technology, which is offered as part of the Technology Package and the Premium Package, has also garnered numerous exceptional reviews from leading automotive experts and publications, including a recent nod from the Los Angeles Times, which recognized LDW as being "the most notable electronic safety aid on the new M that can help avert big shunts caused by inattention."

The LDW system was also recently acknowledged in an article by The Washington Times as a system "that will definitely reduce the number of head-on accidents caused by inattentive drivers." The article went on to mention that "who-ever dreamed up the LDW should take a bow, as it will save lives."

"We are pleased that our LDW system is part of such an important product launch for Infiniti," said Jack Johnson, chief executive officer of Iteris. "It's extremely encouraging to see M sales increasing by the month and dealers trying to meet consumer demand. The positive response to LDW by the automotive industry as a whole, gives Iteris much to look forward to as demand for our technology increases."

Iteris' LDW system is part of the 2006 Infiniti M Technology Package that includes a DVD navigation system with 8.0-inch LCD screen and Intelligent Cruise Control, Bose(R) Studio Surround(TM) sound system and XM or Sirius satellite radio.

The LDW system, jointly developed for Nissan with Valeo and first introduced on the Infiniti FX, is the first production application of the technology in the North American automotive market. The LDW system uses a vision-based camera and proprietary software algorithms to monitor the lane markings in front of the vehicle. If a driver makes an unintentional lane departure (without using a turn signal), the system automatically emits an audible warning that alerts the driver to take corrective action.
