Bricklin Vows That Legal Intimidation Will Not Influence His Decision In Choosing a Brand Name

Malcolm Bricklin - Founder and CEO of Visionary Vehicles - responds to a letter from General Motors Corporation Legal Staff threatening litigation if Visionary Vehicles uses the brand name "Chery" to bring in a totally new line of luxurious, high quality cars and trucks at 30-40% below current market prices.

GM contends that "Chery" sounds too similar to "Chevy," and will challenge the pending trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Bricklin said, "General Motors must resort to unfounded legal attacks to make up for their declining sales and unimaginative product line. They should focus on developing a better product for consumers, rather than waste time and resources with veiled threats of frivolous lawsuits. I will meet this challenge head on, and proceed with a trademark application under the Chery name."

Bricklin continued, "Unlike GM's Chevrolet, the Chery line of cars and trucks will have breathtaking designs, embody the soul of the industry's most luxurious automobiles, and be backed by the best warranty in the business. The American consumer will see soon enough that comparing Chery to Chevy, is like comparing cherries to lemons."

Visionary Vehicles LLC, an international automobile import/distribution company founded by Malcolm Bricklin, has announced a historic agreement with Chery Automobile Company of China, to import a totally new line of luxury vehicles at exceptionally low prices to North America. These vehicles are targeted to be priced between 30 and 40% below comparable models currently sold in the marketplace and will have a warranty equal to the best in the industry: 10-years/100,000 miles.
