100 New Dodge Trucks and SUVs Form Convoy to Deliver
Hurricane Katrina Relief

-- Employee-driven Dakotas will join additional 90 Dodge Rams and
Durangos in St. Louis
-- Vehicles will be loaded with needed relief and rebuilding supplies
donated by the Chrysler Group from Lowe's in St. Louis
WHAT: Employees from the Chrysler Group and the United Auto Workers
(UAW) will begin a 1,000 mile journey on Sunday, Sept. 11 to
deliver 100 Dodge Dakotas, Rams and Durangos to support the
Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi and
Alabama.
The convoy will start at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant with 10
Dakotas. They will join 90 other vehicles in St. Louis, home of
the Dodge Ram, for the trip to Jackson, Miss. Fifty vehicles
will remain in Jackson with 40 vehicles continuing on to Baton
Rouge, La., and 10 vehicles going on to Montgomery, Ala.
Before they depart St. Louis, DaimlerChrysler employees will
load the 20 vehicles with supplies including chainsaws, gloves,
shovels, sledge hammers and other equipment needed for the clean
up and reconstruction efforts. Vehicles also will be loaded with
toiletries, baby goods, food and water.
The vehicle donation is part of the $4.4 million in assistance
provided by DaimlerChrysler to the American Red Cross and Gulf
Coast communities damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
