Mercedes to Recall 50,000 Cars to Fix Potential Windshield Wiper Problem

FRANKFURT, Germany September 30, 2005; The AP reportred that DaimlerChrysler AG said Friday that its Mercedes Car Group was recalling some 50,000 cars because of a potential problem with the windshield wipers. The recall, which will affect mostly buyers in the German market, includes Vaneo models built between April 2002 and March 2003, as well as A-Class models built between April 2002 and 2003.

The carmaker didn't say how much the recall would cost and added that the problem had not caused any accidents or fatalities.

Earlier this year, Mercedes recalled 1.3 million vehicles to fix problems with their alternators and batteries. It was the largest recall in the company's history.
