Suzuki recalling 313,199 minivehicles over faulty ignition switches

TOKYO April 7, 2006; Suzuki Motor Corp said Thursday it is recalling a total of 313,199 minivehicles in three models for free replacement of faulty ignition switches. The vehicles were manufactured under the Every, Carry and Scrum brands between December 1998 and November 2000, Suzuki said.

The Scrum vehicles were manufactured on behalf of Mazda Motor Corp on an original equipment manufacturing basis. Suzuki also said it is recalling a total of 44,755 vehicles it produced under the Wagon R and Chevrolet MW brands between November 2000 and December 2005 because they are equipped with defective accelerator cables.
