Indian Truck and SUV Maker Plans to be First to Enter U.S.

Washington DC Novembert 17, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading SUV maker, says it plans to begin selling SUVs, pickups, and eventually a diesel-electric hybrid SUV in the U.S. next year through Alpharetta, Ga.-based distributor, Global Vehicles USA.

According to The New York Times, The distributor said it had signed on 130 dealers so far and would add another 70 in the coming months. Just last week, Mahindra & Mahindra announced a joint venture with Renault to build a plant in India with a capacity of 500,000 cars a year, starting in 2009.
