DETROIT, Jan. 3, 2007 -- MotorCities National Heritage Area (MotorCities), an affiliate of the National Park Service, is the primary source of automotive heritage information for media and visitors attending Detroit's North American International Auto Show. Designated a National Heritage Area by Congress in 1998, MotorCities' goal is to promote and protect Michigan's rich automotive heritage.

"With over 6,000 media representatives and countless visitors from around the world descending on Detroit for the Auto Show, MotorCities will do whatever it can to connect our guests with all the automotive heritage attractions in the region," said Bud Liebler, MotorCities' interim executive director. "Automotive heritage is deeply rooted in our region's past, present and future -- and a visit to our sites can provide visitors greater insight and understanding of what Detroit and the auto industry are really all about."

Through its venues and programs, MotorCities encourages residents and visitors alike to explore the region's rich automotive presence in a 10,000 square mile area of southeast and central Michigan, including hundreds of venues such as museums, auto barons' homes and gardens, assembly plants, speedways, theatres, restaurants, parks and more. Complete information is available on the organization's Web site at www.ExperienceEverythingAutomotive.org.
