Washington DC April 16, 2008; The AIADA newsletter reported that hybrid vehicles are hot. You've probably heard it can be hard to find them in showrooms. Some dealers are even getting mark-ups over the sticker price.

But that's not true for all hybrids. If you're in the market for an SUV, you might be in for a wait. But if you're looking for a car, CNN reports that several choices are relatively easy to find.

The ones that are easiest to find, for the most part, sell best - and vice versa. The Prius, for example is relatively easy to come across. Despite a short pipeline and brisk sales, buyers aren't reporting big problems finding a Prius when they want one. Some exasperated buyers even report getting a Prius after they had a hard time finding their first choice of vehicle.

It probably helps that Toyota, the carmaker that sells the most hybrid vehicles, has its own joint venture battery supplier and that it makes many of the components for its hybrid vehicles - even computer chips - itself. Meanwhile, consumers who want a Ford Escape Hybrid could be in for a long wait.
