AUTO CENTRAL - August 13, 2008: Carillion plc, one of the UK’s leading support services and construction companies, has awarded a contract to Manheim Auctions for the remarketing of its fleet of 18,000 vehicles, one third of which are cars and two thirds are commercial vehicles. Manheim Auctions will be responsible for the remarketing of 70% of the Carillion fleet until the end of 2010 with the possibility of a 12 month extension thereafter.

The remarketing of Carillion’s commercial vehicles will be handled through Manheim’s seven dedicated CV auctions centres in Colchester, Glasgow, Gloucester, Haydock, Leeds, Mansfield and Washington while the cars will be sold through Birmingham, Colchester and Manchester. Manheim will also be responsible for a central car defleet operation in Birmingham, for the inspection and reconditioning of the cars and then for their subsequent onward delivery for sale.

In addition Manheim will be assisting Carillion with the administration and management if its re-allocated vehicles from the central storage compound in Birmingham where the vehicles will be fully appraised, repaired, cleaned and delivered to new customers.

Steven Danks, Carillion’s Supply Chain Manager said: “The growth of Carillion in recent years has resulted in the need for a well managed and structured vehicle remarketing programme and Manheim’s wealth of experience and expertise will contribute greatly to this process.”

Martin Potter, Corporate Sales Director for Manheim Auctions added: “Manheim’s extensive auctions and remarketing capability and expertise were key factors in the decision to award this contract and I am confident that the team will meet all of Carillion’s requirements and expectations.”
