PONTIAC, Mich., Sept. 12 -- The Amy Perry family in Pontiac is joining the celebration of General Motors' 100th anniversary in a special way, by taking ownership of the Habitat for Humanity House built by The Suburban Collection in honor of GM's anniversary.

"Building a house for a deserving family is not the typical anniversary gift," said David Fischer, Chairman and CEO of The Suburban Collection. "But it does capture the spirit of community service that is General Motors. GM has done so much for communities around the world and especially here in the Detroit area for the past 100 years. We hope this house will stand as a symbol of all that GM does in the community."

At the dedication ceremony today, David Fischer presented Rod Gillum, GM's vice president, Corporate Responsibility and Diversity, this special anniversary gift, the keys to the house at 362 Ferry Street. On behalf of General Motors, Rod then presented the keys to Amy Perry, Pontiac's newest homeowner.

"Home ownership is still a cornerstone of the American dream," said GM's Rod Gillum. "Therefore, we're so thankful to the Suburban Collection team for the work they did to help build this beautiful house and make one family's dream a reality. In General Motors Centennial year, we're pleased to give back to our community as we look forward."

"These past weeks I have experienced the joy of working side by side with family, friends and volunteers from The Suburban Collection and General Motors as together we built this beautiful house. I have made new friends, learned lots of new skills and felt the pride of accomplishment. This experience has changed my life," said Amy Perry, Habitat home recipient.
