  • NORTHVILLE, Mich., October 21, 2008: Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc. announced today that its aluminum wheel manufacturing operation in Chihuahua, Mexico has received Nissan North America, Inc.'s Quality Master and Zero Defects Awards.

The Quality Master Award is based on year-long evaluations of Nissan's suppliers by the company's engineering, manufacturing, product quality, production control and purchasing divisions. Only suppliers that have achieved a high level rating by each function can succeed in achieving this recognition.

Hayes Lemmerz was also named a 2008 Nissan Zero Defects Award winner. The Zero Defects Award is presented to suppliers that ship fewer than three defective parts per million in a year's time.

"I congratulate our associates in Chihuahua who worked so hard to ensure our products exceed Nissan's expectations," said Miguel Leon, Plant Manager, Hayes Lemmerz Chihuahua Operations. "These awards inspire our associates to continue delivering their best, resulting in the highest quality products for our customers," he added.

"Our relationship with Nissan is highly valued, and we are honored to receive the recognition these awards represent," said Donald Hampton, Jr., Vice President of Operations, Hayes Lemmerz North American Operations. "Our vision of being a premier automotive supplier and growing through satisfying our customers remains strong and we look forward to further strengthening our relationship as a valued business partner of Nissan."
