Toyota Cars to Be Recalled in China

Beijing, Oct 29, 2008; Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co. plans to recall 83,406 cars starting Monday due to defects in transmission systems, the Chinese government said Wednesday.

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine received the notice from the joint venture between Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. and China's FAW Group Corp.

Subject to the step are the Corolla EX made between June 1, 2007, and June 10, 2008, the Corolla made between May 17, 2007, and June 10, 2008, and the Vios made between Feb. 14 and June 10 this year.
