China Auto-parts Import Value Up 7.3% In 2008

Shanghai, March 10, 2009: (Gasgoo.com) China's total imports of auto parts increased 7.28 percent year on year in 2008 to $16.3 billion, accounting for 52 percent of the total value of auto imports, according to data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Specifically, imports of auto wheels and parts grew 41.19 percent to $290 million in 2008; imports of major auto parts and car bodies grew 4.89 percent to $13.45 billion; imports of engines and parts grew 9.72 percent to $1.68 billion; and imports of other automotive components soared 18.92 percent to $864 million.

In 2008 China imported 410,100 cars worth of $15.13 billion, up 30.53 percent by number and 41.65 percent in value from 2007.

China's total imports of autos, including auto parts and components, rose 20.96 percent year-on-year in 2008 to $31.43 billion, according to CAAM.
