NAVTEQ Selected by MetroPCS as Preferred Map Provider

NAVTEQ will Provide Map Data for All MetroPCS LBS Initiatives in the United States

CHICAGO, May 19 -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, today announced an agreement with MetroPCS, a leading provider of wireless communications service, under which NAVTEQ has been selected as the preferred map supplier for all its location based services.

NAVTEQ's digital map, known for its accuracy and extensive coverage, enables effective Point of Interest (POI) search and routing functionality. It also provides an ideal foundation for supporting innovative wireless Location-Based Services applications that require accurate, rich and relevant content.

MetroPCS is a provider of unlimited wireless communications service for a flat-rate with no signed contract. MetroPCS has launched several end-user applications that use NAVTEQ(R) map data, including MetroNavigator, a GPS-enabled navigation application. MetroNavigator is a downloadable application that enables turn-by-turn driving directions, local search and maps on GPS-enabled handsets. MetroPCS and NAVTEQ have also worked together through the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge(R) competition where MetroPCS acted as a judge for the 2009 Americas edition.

"As wireless location services are evolving, high quality map data and content are becoming an increasingly essential value-add for consumers," says George Filley, vice president, Americas consumer sales, NAVTEQ. "NAVTEQ maps are an integral component to MetroPCS's services and we are pleased that they have put their trust in us as preferred map provider."
