American Tire Distributors, Inc. Announces Planned Sale of Autotire Car Care Centers Stores

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--American Tire Distributors Inc. (“ATD”) announced today that Am-Pac Tire Distributors, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Tire Distributors, has reached an agreement to sell twenty-six St. Louis, Missouri based Autotire Car Care Centers (“Autotire”) stores to Monro Muffler Brake, Inc. (“Monro”) ATD expects the transaction to close by the end of June 2009.

“American Tire Distributors has stated many times, and for many years, that we do not intend to compete with our customers,” said William E. “Bill” Berry, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Tire Distributors. “We believe this business model differentiates us from many other companies that distribute tires and related products in the marketplace. We want our customers to look at us as a valued advisor and partner, not as a competitor.”

American Tire Distributors acquired the Autotire stores, along with eleven additional stores located primarily in southern California, as part of the December 2008 acquisition of Am-Pac Tire Dist. Inc.
