CarMax Kicks off Month-Long Volunteer Efforts Across The United States

RICHMOND, Va.--CarMax, Inc. , the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, today kicks off volunteer efforts across the United States to support the communities where our associates live and work. During June, hundreds of CarMax associates are volunteering in teams for non-profit organizations, such as Boys and Girls Clubs, Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity.

More than 50 volunteer teams are dedicating their time and energy throughout the month of June with both local and nationwide organizations. Their activities include work on literacy projects, landscaping and animal care, as well as providing summer camp assistance. Boys and Girls Clubs has been selected as the primary national team-builder organization for this year’s month-long volunteer efforts. This organization has been the number one chosen grantee for The CarMax Foundation’s Regional Giving Program for the past two years, during which time it has been awarded a total of more than $180,000.

“The enthusiasm for these volunteer efforts has been overwhelming,” said Dodie Fix, president of The CarMax Foundation and assistant vice president of procurement. “Teams from across the country are volunteering with organizations that have a significant positive impact on our communities.”

The CarMax Foundation is doubling grants to the non-profits for associate volunteer team-builders to $1,000 in June, also known as CarMax Cares Month, on behalf of the hardworking teams supporting their local communities. The CarMax Foundation’s standard Volunteer Team-Builder program grant throughout the remainder of the year is $500 for participating non-profit organizations.
