COLOGNE - June 17, 2009: Driving a Formula 1 car in the rain is one of the most challenging disciplines in all of sport, with almost no grip from the tyres and even less visibility. The 2009 season has already seen rain at races in Malaysia and China, with Panasonic Toyota Racing driver Timo Glock emerging as a star performer in wet conditions. He followed his podium in Malaysia with seventh place in China, despite starting the race from the pit lane. Formula 1 cars have specially-developed rain tyres but beyond that, it is down to the driver to adapt to the conditions, which requires astute judgement, precise car control and quick reactions.
