CarMax Reports Black Most Popular Car Color in Online Searches

RICHMOND, Va.--CarMax, Inc. , the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, reports that black remains the most popular color for used vehicle searches conducted on carmax.com. This mirrors a similar account from February 2008 when black was first reported to be the most popular vehicle color search choice.

Used car shopper’s top five color choices in July were:

Other colors of interest to online shoppers were gray, green and gold.

“Buying a car is a big decision and many people want a car or truck to reflect their personal style,” said Chas Vandersypen, senior buyer in Huntsville, Alabama. “I hear from customers all the time what an important criteria vehicle color choice is when car shopping.”

The CarMax website can be used to research information on new and used cars, including hybrids and diesels of various makes and models. The website showcases vehicles with multiple photos, the no-haggle price, and information on features, options, fuel economy and customer reviews.
