AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports Have Two Times as Many Reported Accidents as Carfax

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Sept. 1, 2009; Experian Automotive today announced that new research has found its AutoCheck vehicle history reports have two times the number of reported accidents as Carfax , another commonly used vehicle history report.

A new quantitative analysis conducted by Pipal Research, an independent, custom research firm, comparing AutoCheck and Carfax vehicle history reports demonstrates that AutoCheck holds significant competitive advantages by reporting twice the number of accidents.

"Experian Automotive has long been committed to listening to customers and investing in and growing our AutoCheck vehicle history database to meet their needs," said Scott Waldron, president of Experian Automotive. "The findings of this new research are a testament to that investment, proving that we are providing the information that matters most to them."

Consumers are most interested in accident information by a wide margin over any other piece of information on a vehicle history report, according to research from The Blackstone Group of individuals intending to buy a vehicle in the near future. Having access to this level of reported accident information helps anyone buying or selling a used vehicle make informed and confident decisions.

"By having access to more reported accident information when stocking their inventories and at the time of sale, dealers are better equipped to bring higher quality used cars onto their lots and be able to demonstrate that quality to consumers who place high value on this information," Waldron continued.

"The number one thing used car shoppers are interested in when we run a vehicle history report is whether or not a vehicle has been in an accident," said Ariel Szwec, general manager of Sullivan Buick Pontiac GMC in Arlington Heights, Ill. "The high level of reported accidents in AutoCheck's reports helps us provide our customers with more of the information they are looking for. This gives them peace of mind and us a great sales tool."
