INGOLSTADT , Germany - September 11, 2009: As reported earlier today on TheAutoChannel.com http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2009/09/10/477064.html, Audi will definitely shock the world with an electric vehicle at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Although the Germans do not wish to provide much information, we got some more news about the EV and this rough sketch of back of the e-tron, as the model is called.

The spokesman of the distributor for Audi in The Netherlands confirmed the rumour, but not that it will be the electric version of the R8. “It will be a true sporty vehicle, with the sport genes of Audi and the efficiency you might expect of our brand,” he said. “It is a study that is called e-tron.” The drawing of the back of the e-tron study shows we can expect a true sports car model that is probably as wide and low as the R8. Also, I am sure the EV will have quattro all wheel drive and also that it will have the Audi Space Frame, since Audi is the leader in the use of aluminium bodies based on the ASF.:,/p>

The e-tron concept car will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday, September 15, at 13.00 pm CET (7.00 a.m. EST). The Auto Channel will air the news that very same minute.

R8 Spider and More
The Dutch spokesman could also confirm the arrival in Frankfurt of the R8 Spider, but again could not provide any details. We can promise you though that you will find all the news about this topless super car here at The Auto Channel on Tuesday, September 15, at 00.01 CET (Monday 18.00 pm EST). Stay tuned!

Three more debuts and a new logo Audi will introduce its new logo in Frankfurt as well as three other new models cars: the S5 Sportback, the A3 1. TFSI and the A4 quattro wit the extremely low emission 3.0-liter TDI clean diesel engine that debuted in the Q7 SUV. With a new DeNOx catalytic converter this engine reduces 90 percent of the NOx –emisions and meets the US Tier 2 emission standard.
