Nissan Celebrates Design Inspiration at 'Cube Store'

MAPLE CROSS, UNITED KINGDOM: It has inspired Tokyo for a decade and now the Nissan Cube is set to take Londons East End by storm. Not content with designing the most iconic cars of tomorrow, Nissan Design Europe has turned its hand to architecture and created a hub of creativity and design: Cube Store.

Marking the imminent launch of Nissans new urban sensation, the Cube, a unique attraction will draw in the Capitals design connoisseurs. Cube Store located at The Boiler House, The Old Truman Brewery, 152 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL has been designed by Nissan Design Europes experts from their studio in Paddington. The team, led by VP of design, Alfonso Albaisa, was given the freedom to bring to life a forum for creative influencers, a celebration of design innovation and the venue for a sneak preview of the Nissan Cube.

Launched in Japan over 10 years ago, the original Cube was an instant hit with Japans underground community, and the latest version captures the same enthusiasm for design as its predecessor. The new London Cube Store is an extension of this design philosophy.

The result is a retail space and exhibition by day and an event centre by night. The venue will play host to a six-week season of design, art, music, fashion and film themed experiences.

Over 15 events will be staged at the Cube Store between now and the 23rd December, hosted by internationally acclaimed creative figures who have made their mark in the world of design, architecture and film including Tony Kaye and Alfred Malmros.

During the daytime, the unique Nissan attraction will feature the brands first ever pop-up store featuring celebrated Parisian design emporium, Colette. Just in time for Christmas shopping, Colette has handpicked a range of Cube-inspired products exclusively for sale at the venue Wednesdays to Sundays from midday til 7pm.

Come day or night, however, the star attraction will always be the Nissan Cube. Fans of the new models unique asymmetric design will be invited to join the CubeList at www.cubelist.co.uk. From there they can learn more about the car and a select few will be able to request tickets to Cube Stores evening events. Adding to the build-up to the official UK launch in January, a handful of Nissan Cubes will be driving around London handing out CubeList cards to gain VIP access to the website.

Nissans UK MD, Paul Willcox comments: The Cube is a unique new model and has an equally unique build up to its launch. The Cube Store is yet another example of Nissan using its design expertise to do so much more than creating fantastic new cars. Its a must see for any visitor to the East End.
