LONDON – February 19, 2010: A vintage Ford Cortina 2000GT with a BBC pedigree was sold for £2,200 in the Top Car Sale at BCA Blackbushe on Monday, 15th February. Many potential buyers were in the auction hall at Blackbushe for a chance to bid on this rare 1970s saloon, with others competing over the internet via BCA Live Online.

The Ford Cortina Facelift Mk3 2000GT was one of the very last GTs produced and was on a 1976 ‘R’ plate. The car had been owned by the BBC since 2007 and starred on the BBC's Culture Show in the summer of that year, visiting a series of famous UK film locations such as Train spotting, The Wicker Man, Brief Encounter, The Full Monty, 28 Days Later and Gosford Park.

The Cortina was managed by Lex Autolease and featured as part of the Lex Autolease sale section at Blackbushe. The car sold to an internet bidder on BCA’s Live Online service.

The car had covered 86,200 miles and was resprayed in the current finish of black approximately six 6 years ago, offset with chrome bumpers. It featured the original 2-litre Pinto OHC petrol engine fitted with a high-performance K&N air filter.
