Entry into a Lotus sports car made easier than ever before

SYDNEY – April 6, 2010: Lotus Cars Australia has announced that it has adjusted the recommended retail price of many of its current new car collection, with savings of up to $18,500 in the model range. Following a change in international market conditions and advancing sales and marketing inititives, Lotus Cars Australia is primed to pass on substantial savings to the customer, making its Elise, Exige and Evora sports cars more affordable than ever before.

Lotus Cars Australia Managing Director John Startari explains "The government's import duty reduction at the start of 2010 has offered some assistance, whilst favourable foreign exchange rates have been a further catalyst to these announced price changes. We are now even more competitive as a brand, and with individual models, all this whilst we are still maintaining equipment levels and introducing model year updates."

The Lotus range starts with the Elise, a face-lifted and renamed model, previously known as the Elise S. The MY2011 Elise will retain the sharp Lotus range entry level price of $69,990, but will be updated with the new-for-2010 production body styling and a variety of other modifications. These MY2011 body styling changes will also be evident on the Elise R and Elise SC, which both see a $10,000 base vehicle price reduction. The first MY2011 Elise range cars are to land in Australia midway through the year with customers able to pre-order these vehicles now (see separate release for detailed information).

The new Lotus Evora that headlines the range is also reduced by $10,000, in both 2+0 and 2+2 versions. The award winning Lotus Evora, the only mid-engined 2+2 in the world that also offers spectacular performance of 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds and low emissions and fuel consumption of just 205g/km and 8.7l/100km, now starts from $139,990.

Lotus Cars Australia has also announced amendments to retail pricing for Option packs, stand-alone Options and Metallic, Lifestyle and Premium paint throughout the Lotus Elise and Evora platform. These changes allow a level of personalisation on the most competitive scale ever.

"We feel this is an exciting time for Lotus," added Startari. "With the new models and the growing economy, the new pricing structure allows us to be more assertive than ever before in the Australian market, and arguably most aggressive in the world. Supported by a strong and committed Australian dealer network and focused Sales and Marketing strategies through the year Lotus is primed to progress in Australia through 2010."
