Classic Porsches for Sale at Shannons

SYDNEY – April 30, 2010: Three classic Porsche 911 models will go under the hammer at Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on Monday (May 3).

The most desirable of the trio for collectors is an original right hand drive short wheelbase 911S 2.0-litre coupe – one of just 1267 small bumper 'S' model Coupes produced n 1968.

This sought-after early Porsche model has matching VIN and engine numbers and sits on a set of now-rare Fuchs forged alloy wheels.

The car has befitted from a recent body restoration, during which its original Polo Red colour was been retained.

The car’s 2.0 litre flat six cylinder engine was upgraded in the 1980s to 2.2 litres and the 911S is being sold with three folders of history and receipts, plus its original manual and jack.

Shannons estimate it will sell in the $46,000-$54,000 range.

For Porsche enthusiasts looking for a potential ‘daily driver, Shannons also have a 1978 Porsche 911SC Coupe.

The Australian delivered, right hand drive SC is fitted with factory options including an electric left mirror, a rear window wiper, black anodised exterior trim and a sunroof.

It is being sold with documentation and invoices dating back 10 years and is expected to make $25,000-$30,000.

Finally for Porsche enthusiasts wanting to stand out from the crowd, Shannons have a 1980 Porsche 911 SC that has been mechanically upgraded and is now fitted with a 959 body kit.

Mechanical modifications include a new exhaust system, drilled front and rear brake disc rotors and four new Continental tyres, while Recaro front seats have been fitted.

This eye-catching Porsche is expected to sell in the $18,000-$24,000 range.

The three Porsches are amongst 30 vehicles and 20 items of automobilia in the Shannon auction, which will take place at 65 Reserve Road, St.Leonards from 7.00pm on Monday May 3.

All lots will be available for inspection over the May 1-2 weekend from 9am until 5pm Saturday and 10am until 4pm Sunday.
