Washington DC May 6, 2010; The AIADA newsletter reported that U.S. car sales reported a whopping 20 percent gain last month over April 2009.

According to Forbes, the increases came thanks in part to recent growth in national gross domestic product, analysts say, but also thanks to buyer incentives – generous cash-back rebates from the domestic automakers and a 0 percent financing offer from Toyota to bolster sales after months of negative publicity.

In fact, Toyota's interest-free, five-year loans on some of its most popular cars have virtually forced other automakers to follow suit with super low interest rates of their own.

To find the best incentive deals available today, Forbes' analysts evaluated all current cash incentives nationwide, then selected the month's top deals based on the ratio between the amount of cash being offered and a vehicle's suggested retail price.

Dan Hall, vice president of AutoPacific, says Toyota's low-financing deals will probably force most automakers to keep some kind of customer incentive on the table throughout the summer – but they'll try to achieve that tricky balance by getting creative with what they offer.
