Modded Cars

Todays cars can best be described as computers on wheels. Unlike the good old days of Hot Roding, modifying your ride these days is shunned upon. In fact its illegal. In some jurisdictions simply having any performance equipment installed on your vehicle can lead to a charge of racing. Converting the modern car is expensive, time consuming and usually renders the vehicle unsalable. Modifications usually involve compromising the emissions systems. This in turn causes these vehicles to fail current emissions standards. Alterations are commonly performed on the intake systems and exhaust components.
The theory is based on the fact. Being that an engine is basically an air pump, moving air in and out of the engine efficiently leads to better performance. There are also performance gains available in modifying the computer program running the engine. Take note modifying the emissions system could lead to heavy, heavy fines. Scary stuff. Most techs will shy away from this type of work. Best advice? Buy the performance you crave rather than try a build it. Its cheaper in the long run.
