SYDNEY – June 23, 2010: J.D. Power and Associates has announced that Hyundai Motor Company has again made its mark, finishing third among non-premium brands in the U.S. 2010 Initial Quality Study (IQS) to hold a top-three position for the second consecutive year with 102 reported problems per 100 vehicles – well below the industry average.

Highlights included the 2010 Accent model, which topped the sub-compact segment with the fewest reported problems. The Hyundai Elantra also finished in the top three within the compact car segment.

The IQS is now in its 24th year and is regarded both as the U.S. automotive industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality and an excellent predictor of long-term vehicle durability. The 2010 IQS is based on responses from more than 82,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2010 model-year vehicles surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study measures 228 attributes and was conducted between February and May 2010.

Recently J.D. Power and Associates’ Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) recognised Hyundai Motor Company as one of only six volume brands to perform significantly better than the non-premium average in the long term quality survey, moving up three rank positions over the 2009 study.

“Pursuit of industry-leading quality is Hyundai’s number one global priority,” said Oliver Mann, Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s Marketing Director. “Hyundai is working hard to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction, demonstrating that value and quality can go hand-in-hand. Our new ix35, i45 and soon to be launched i20 models provide further evidence of Hyundai’s commitment to quality.”
