PARIS, July 12, 2010; Valeo is taking part in the eSafety Challenge 2010 in Millbrook (UK) on July 13, 2010. On this occasion, the Group is presenting a selection of its latest visibility and driving assistance technologies, including advanced lighting and detection systems.

In the area of lighting, the new Valeo camera-based lighting technology, BeamAtic(R) Premium, offers the driver optimal visibility during night driving. In particular the high beam cone adapts to oncoming traffic to avoid dazzling other road users. The front camera can also be used for other applications such as Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Departure Warning.

The Group is also presenting Xenon Lighting that increases visibility by 30%. Xenon low-beam lights effectively illuminate the road for 110 meters, compared with 80 meters for traditional technologies.

In the field of detection systems, Valeo is presenting the Blind Spot Detection system, which ensures safe lane changes. Thanks to a radar sensor on either side of the rear of the car it detects any vehicle next to and behind it. Another technology being presented, the camera-based LaneGuide(TM) system, alerts the driver if the vehicle unintentionally leaves the lane and assists with an active steering support to keep within the lane.

Visitors to the eSafety Challenge will be able to experience the safety benefits of these Valeo technologies through a special 3D environment.

The eSafety Challenge event aims to promote public awareness of eSafety systems and their benefits. The eSafety Challenge is an event co-funded by the European Commission, the FIA Foundation (International Automobile Federation) and eSafetyAware! (39 organizations, including Valeo, representing a wide range of automotive stakeholders) and supported by EuroNCAP. The Challenge focuses on innovative vehicle safety technologies and the potential lives to be saved on the roads through increased deployment of these technologies.
